Tata Steel’s most significant recent move in its carbon steel business has been the multi-year expansion of its Kalinganagar plant in Odisha — a project that reshapes the company’s production capacity and signals where its long-term carbon steel strategy is headed.
The Kalinganagar Phase II Expansion
Tata Steel commissioned India’s largest blast furnace at Kalinganagar as part of a Phase II expansion backed by a total investment of Rs 27,000 crore, taking the site’s capacity from 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 8 MTPA.
